About IIT BHU

IIT Varanasi has opened its admission for the academic session 2024-2025. The GATE COAP 2024 seat allotment results for the second round have been announced at the official website. Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi earlier known as the Banaras Engineering College was established in 1919, and in 2012 it was renamed the Institute of Technology of India Banaras Hindu University. It has become a prominent place where thousands of students come every year to shape their careers. In 1968, three colleges, Banaras Engineering College (founded in 1919), College of Technology, and College of Mining and Metallurgy merged and became the IIT BHU to provide more facilities to the engineering students. Later in 2012, it was named as Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi. The institute is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) and has top faculties, an excellent placement cell, well-equipped labs, on-campus hostels, clubs, and many other facilities to offer students. The institute has been gaining popularity among students all over India even international students for its placement-oriented quality education in the fields of Engineering, Technology and Science.

The IIT BHU courses are offered at UG, PG and PhD levels, in the field of engineering and applied science. The degrees offered are B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Tech + M.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and PhD. The institute also offers part-time courses alongside regular courses for both domestic and international students. The IIT Varanasi fees range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1,00,000 per semester (tuition fee).

The IIT BHU placements are organised by the dedicated and very active Training and Placement Cell (T&P Cell). 100% placement assistance is provided to the students. In 2023, a total of 117 companies participated and 472 job offers were made. The IIT Varanasi highest package recorded was Rs 1.2 CPA. IIT Varanasi course admissions are conducted on the basis of entrance exam scores and counselling. To be eligible for application, candidates must also meet the basic eligibility requirements for their desired programme. The applications are to be done online on the exam's official portal. The exams accepted for admission are JEE Advanced, GATE and IIT JAM. 

IIT Varanasi NIRF Ranking 2023: The institute was ranked in the 31st position in the Overall category with a score of 57.08. The NIRF 2023 engineering, ranking secured by the institute was 15th with a score of 63.74. IIT BHU appeared in the NIRF Ranking list under the Overall and Engineering headings.

IIT BHU Courses and Admission 2025

IIT BHU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD and combined courses (B.Tech + M.Tech) in around 4 streams, engineering, technology, humanities and sciences for both domestic and international students. Candidates can also avail the facility of part-time courses in some of these streams. Under engineering and technology streams, there are several departments like architecture, civil engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, mining engineering, material science and technology, biochemical engineering, biomedical engineering and many more. When candidates opt for postgraduate courses at the Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi, they also get the opportunity to choose from different specialisation courses available in the respective departments.

All the undergraduate courses (B.E/ B.tech) are 4 years long except the B.Arch program. Candidates need to invest a total of 5 years to study any Integrated Dual Degree course or B.Arch program at the Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi. On the other hand, M.Tech and M.Sc courses are of 2 years in length.

Candidates need to sit for JEE Advanced to get selected for B.Arch, B.Tech and B.Tech + M.Tech courses at IIT BHU. The steps to fill out the PG and PhD application form for IIT BHU admission are given below.

  • Candidates have to visit the official website of the IIT BHU.
  • From the menu bar, they have to click on 'Academics'.
  • Thereafter, they have to click on 'Admission', 'PG', and 'Application Procedure' one after another.
  • After that, the application portal will appear on their screens and the candidates will have to click on 'New User Register Here'
  • Candidates need to register themselves by providing their personal details.
  • They must fill up the application form by entering all the necessary details and uploading a scanned copy of a passport-sized photo and their signatures.

Joint Seat Allocation Authority will publish the IIT BHU Cutoff 2022 for B.Tech admission online (JoSAA). On September 22, the seat allocation for JoSAA 2022 round 1 was released. By going to the JoSAA website, candidates can view the opening and closing standings by category. Anyone who wants to reserve or accept a seat must pay the admission charge and have their documentation verified by the specified date. The deadline to register and complete your choices for the JoSAA Counseling 2022 is September 21. Candidates who meet the requirements may register online at josaa.nic.in. On September 18 and September 20, respectively, JoSAA revealed the findings of the first and second simulated seat allocations.

The minimum rank needed to get admission to the B.Tech programme is the IIT BHU B.Tech cutoff 2022. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will announce the cutoff (JoSAA). The cutoff is determined by a number of variables, including JEE Advanced test rank, seat availability, choice filling, reservation criteria, etc. JoSAA round one final ranking for students in the general category. The six-round JEE Advanced cutoff for 2022 will be announced by JoSAA. The opening and closing ranks for each category's cutoff will be made public.

The college life is very vibrant and full of fests and fun. There are 3 major fests at iit bhu, the biggest one is kashiyatra the socio- cultural fest which happens to be in the month of January. Our sports fest is spardha which is Asia's largest sports fest happens in the month of October. And the technex the technical fest. There is the facility of library with all types of books , journals and research papers with ac in the reading halls. Although the classes lacks the facility of ACs which is the down side of iit bhu. When is the IIT JAM exam for IIT BHU MSc admission?

Admission to the IIT BHU M.Sc courses requires passing the IIT JAM test. The application form was made available on the official website (jam.iitm.ac.in) by the organising body, IIT Madras. Candidates may sit for the exam if they have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. The test will be held on February 11, 2024. There are two M.Sc specialisations available: physics and chemistry.

What is the IIT JAM 2024 application process for IIT Varanasi admission?

Online applications are accepted for the IIT JAM test. The JOAPS portal requires candidates to register by providing their name, mobile number, working email address, and password. What is the IIT Varanasi fees structure?

The Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi offers financial assistance to deserving (Non-Sponsored) undergraduate students by awarding them with merit-cum-means scholarships. The postgraduate and PhD students are also given financial support equivalent to junior research fellows.
